Saudi Arabia’s Strategy for the Construction Industry
The Saudi Clusters Program is designed to support the private sector development of Saudi Arabia's manufacturing industry.
There is a booming construction sector in Saudi Arabia and the GCC with major infrastructure projects being undertaken and massive expansion of building activity, as well as significant expansion in the oil/gas, refining, generation, desalination and petrochemical industries. This boom is driving huge demand for a wide range of construction related products and materials.
Currently many of these materials cannot be sourced within the region and must be imported. This creates significant opportunities to establish manufacturing in the region to meet the growing market needs and benefit from long term competitive advantage.
With huge domestic demand and its location at the heart of the GCC, Saudi Arabia is a natural base for industries to manufacture products for the construction sector and to leverage Saudi Arabia's comparative advantages in supply of low cost raw materials and energy.
The Government of KSA has a vision to create a cluster of construction related industries to manufacture a wide range of construction products to meet the growing needs for development of regional infrastructure. This vision is to support establishment and growth of construction material manufacturing plants, through direct and indirect assistance, providing an investment environment which will enable and facilitate sector development and providing support for international, regional and local investors.
There is a range of possible investment opportunities in this vibrant sector and support packages to assist investors are available.
